Ethical Decision-Making and Governance Frameworks

 

In this class, we draw on the foundations of business management, organizational controls, and ethical decision-making to offer suggestions for improving firm performance and minimizing firm risk.  We will discuss a myriad of topics including: organizational structure, control mechanisms and incentive systems, ethics frameworks, and more.

  • Develop organizational systems to facilitate ethical decision-making
  • Examine the ethical responsibilities of accountants and attorneys

The Presenters:

Jim Hallinan, CPA, CIA, CFSA, CBA is a growth opportunity oriented (GO2) independent business/ organizational partnering consultant and inspirational writer/ speaker. Jim has over 30 years of combined corporate and independent experience, focused on providing proactive guidance, assessments, and support to organizations in their efforts to strengthen governance, risk management, internal control, and audit programs and processes. Jim has been a speaker at various in-house, professional/ organization and client conferences, and training events, and continues to develop/ update, expand and deliver an array of transformational personal/ professional and organizational development/ training programs. Jim’s life/work mission is dedicated: To help enlighten (‘bring forth the light from within’), inspire, empower, and support people from all walks and stages of life, and teams/ groups/ organizations of all types and sizes, in their quests to: create significant, positive, sustainable change; tap more fully into/ unleash their inner genius, infinite creativity, and unlimited potential; and experience ever-increasing levels of growth, fulfillment, and success!
 
William Kline, Ph.D., CFA is an Assistant Professor of Management at Pennsylvania State University - Harrisburg. He received his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. He has received four awards for teaching excellence including the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year Award (PSU – Harrisburg), the Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence and Stanley Fuchs Award (Fordham University), and the Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Doctoral Candidate (Temple University).  
 
Dr. Kline’s primary research interests include strategic decision-making and executive compensation. He has been published in 9 peer-reviewed journals including the Academy of Management Perspectives, the Journal of International Management, and the Journal of Strategy & Management.
 
Prior to entering academia, Mr. Kline was a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he completed valuations for mergers and acquisitions, business planning, as well as tax and financial reporting. Mr. Kline also spent time consulting at CBIZ Valuation Group, Inc. and Curtis Financial Group, a regional investment bank.
